HUGEM Workshop in Innovation and Leadership Southeast Asia III

December 16-17, 2023 @Hanoi + Manila

December 21-22, 2023 @HCMC + Jakarta

In partnership with The Global Citizen Education Group, the Harvard Undergraduate Global Education Movement (HUGEM) Southeast Asia Innovation & Leadership Workshop is a 2-day program for students to explore innovative solutions to pressing issues in their surroundings. Through this, students are challenged and trained to become leaders of the future.

Students participating in HWIL SEA III will acquire essential skills during the training sessions and challenges:
- Critical Thinking: Develop the ability to research and analyze information for effective problem-solving.
- Communication: Enhance logical presentation skills, effective communication, and confident public speaking.
- Collaboration: Foster a strong team spirit and collaborative mindset.
- Creativity: Cultivate innovation and the generation of groundbreaking ideas and solutions.
- Commitment: Instill a sense of responsibility towards team collaboration and assigned tasks.


Moreover, this is also an opportunity for students to interact with Trainers from the prestigious Harvard University as well as connect with new friends who share the passion to become global citizens!

HWIL

HWIL is an intensive two-weekend-long program designed to provide our participants with a deep understanding of leadership and to equip them with practical skills they can take back and implement in their everyday lives.

The program will cover topics such as leveraging our networks, collaborating efficiently with team members, effective public speaking, as well as engaging in critical thinking and problem solving.

At HWIL, you will have the chance to network with some of the most ingenious minds in the world, transform your knowledge into impact, and drive innovation in your local communities. Under the mentorship of current Harvard students, you will immerse yourself in discussions and interactive activities that will help you master the fundamentals of leadership and understand the key role effective leadership plays in fostering innovative thinking.


Work With International Peers To Find Solutions To Global Problems

You will sharpen your collaboration and communication skills while working with a team of equally capable and inspiring members to brainstorm ways to address and challenge some of the most pressing regional and global issues.

HWIL will create a vibrant community of change agents prepared to transform their local communities around the world.

We hope that you will join us in this exciting journey of learning, growth, and innovation.

Attendees are expected to produce a research proposal on a contemporary issue in their region with extensive details in the form of a presentation. Students are also encouraged to brainstorm possible solutions to the issues in the presentation, but they do not need to go too in-depth about these solutions.
